Session 18: Emergency medicine and Trauma
Trauma is considered as the physical damage or harm caused by an external force. Trauma significantly leads to serious symptoms like chronic pain and many more. Trauma remains the main source of morbidity and mortality in the United States. Palliative care is the part of health care that provides care for patients with serious, life-threatening, or life-limiting illness or injury, stage of disease or treatment. The objective of palliative care is to reduce or alleviate suffering through expert pain symptom management, and in addition help with decision making. The incorporation of palliative and trauma care can help and support the patients and families through stressful, often life-changing times, paying little need to the ultimate result.

Session 19: Neonatal and Maternal
Palliative care for the neonate with a life-limiting condition is an active and total approach to care from the point of diagnosis or recognition, throughout the child's life, death and beyond. It includes the management of distressing symptoms, provision of short breaks and cares through death and bereavement. Advances in neonatal medicine have increased the possibility of sustaining life for many infants, A large number of infants still die in the neonatal period (birth to 27 days of life) than those in any other time in childhood. Palliative care is a good option for many of these infants and their families.

It includes measures focused on preventing health problems in pregnancy, the detection of abnormal conditions, the procurement of medical assistance when necessary, and the execution of emergency measures in the absence of medical help. Midwifery palliative care plays a vital role in ensuring that palliative care of the baby and family starts as presently as a life-limiting condition is recognized, therefore guaranteeing the best care and support area unit provided for those oldsters and families for whom maternity sadly ends up in palliative care.

Session 21: Palliative care in Occupational therapy
Occupational therapy is one of the health profession which enables people to participate in everyday life activities. The specific functional difficulties may include extreme fatigue, anxiety and shortness of breath due to advanced disease including metastatic spinal cord compression, fractures, or peripheral neuropathies. Occupational therapy practitioners play an important role on palliative and hospice care teams by identifying life roles and activities (“occupations”) .In palliative care this premise does not change, They are skilled in enabling people to adapt to their changing ability levels, and also helping people to continue living until they die.

Session 22: Palliative care in Geriatrics
Geriatric medicine is a medical specialty focusing on the health care of elderly persons. Geriatric Palliative Care (GPC) is defined as inter-specialty collaboration unifying competences from geriatric medicine and palliative care to respond to the socio-demographic changes and challenges of older adults with severe and life-limiting conditions. Geriatrics and palliative care are both highly multi-professional and interdisciplinary fields with patient and family-centered activities aimed at improving quality of life, personal capabilities, and social participation. The Main challenges of GPC include clinical research in frail and cognitively impaired patients, healthcare decision making including advance care planning, and coordination of care.

The global market for palliative care is expected to flourish over the forecast period of 2017-2027 due to increasing awareness about the physical, social and psychological, needs of patients with life-threatening diseases and their families. According to WHO, the majority of people receiving hospice care are cancer patients. Increasing incidences of life-threatening illness such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, Alzheimer disease, kidney failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and many more are some of the factors which are responsible during the forecast period of the growth market. Asia-Pacific is giving strong competition in the global Palliative care market by producing a cost-effective treatment that is high in demand in local as well as in the global market. According to the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), in2014 around 6 to 1.7 million patients received services from palliative care centres. Nearly 60% of palliative care in 2014 was provided at the patient’s residence. The palliative care centre industry is in a growth life cycle stage. Over the ten years to 2023, trade price additional, or the industry’s contribution to the U.S. economy to grow at an annualized rate of 0.4%. whereas this can be slower than U.S. GDP during the same year (2.2%), this growth is especially driven down by decline within the early a part of the 10-year.
